About the Lambeth Music Service
Introduction The Lambeth Music Service was established in 2001 with a direct government Standards Fund grant. LMS works with the Lambeth Children and Young People’s Service, other education organisations, funding bodies, charities and business partners to provide music education in the Borough. LMS has developed partnerships with the South Bank Centre, Gateway Recording Trust, LPO, Charanga (eLearning), Lambeth Arts, the NAP and CLC, and other community arts, music and education organisations as well as charities and funding organisations. These relationships will evolve into a music provision hub for Lambeth. LMS aims to work with these partners to help raise musical standards and increase access to music in Lambeth, and is developing a strategy for providing every child in Lambeth with access to music education, in line with the recent DfES proposals for music tuition at Key Stage 2 and the National Singing Strategy. In 2007 LMS received an Honourable Mention in the National Music Council Awards for Music Services for its developments in 2006/7. find out more about: |
