Streatham Music Centre (Thursday after school)
Play It Live
This band is aimed for students who have an interest in rock and pop music.
The course runs for ten weeks each term and provides an opportunity for musicians to play in groups. There is an end-of-term concert at which everyone performs.
As well as getting practical playing experience, students also receive a thorough grounding in other musical techniques from professionals with industry experience– eg how to work in a musical group, understanding composition, arrangement, improvisation, history and context of rock music, and more.
This course is not aimed at beginners. To be considered, you must:
• Be in years 9 to 11
• Have your own instrument
• Be receiving lessons for your instrument
All potential students will be auditioned on their instrument to ensure that they reach the entry level. You do not have to be excellent, but you must be able to show that you are aiming to improve in a proactive manner.
If you are not currently receiving lessons for your instrument, you will need to arrange for this to happen. There may be an opportunity for you to receive lessons in school, or through an LMS tutor as part of the course (please note that this would cost extra).
These sessions are NOT individual instrument lessons. You must already be having lessons in order to take part!
