Move it Music 2007

The 2007 course featured djembe drums with Sheila Stocking, brass with Jim Tucker, strings and crazy choir with Gill Walshaw, wind with Hannah Riches, Steel Pans with Raul Gomez, Pastoral support from Karen Bennett and a Maori Music workshop (indiginous people from New Zealand) showing us how to dance and make poi's that we all took home.
There was also a masterclass where the children performed solos and duos to each other, and a final performance to parents on the last day.  There was also some beautiful artwork created by the children during the week.  Congratulations to course participant Stevie on winning the Beethoven Brain-Box Test!

The week was great fun and enjoyed by all.  Come and join us on the next course

Comments from Parents and Pupils

‘I wanted to express my admiration and thanks for Gill and her colleagues at the Summer School. Social education doesn't get any better than staff that are kind, committed and expert’.

‘my daughter, very much wants to come back in 2008.  Thank you very much’.

‘I was impressed by what you had managed to achieve in just a week with the kids! And to expose them to such a variety of music was really good too. The singing at the concert was great. I liked the teachers very much, they obviously have a talent for bringing the best out of children.. We will be eagerly waiting to hear about the next course’.

‘It would be nice if the course ran for 2 weeks, as my son enjoyed it very much.’

‘Feedback from the kids was very positive, the best holiday programme so far!’

From Children:

‘I liked it when we played new pieces on the violin’

‘I enjoyed the steel pans because I hadn’t done it before’.

Move It Music 2008

MOVE IT MUSIC 2008 is set to be even more exciting and action-packed than last year’s successful course.  A variety of fun tutors are lined up to offer a variety of workshops and activities.  This year two courses will be run at the same time- to cater for both experienced players, and children with no previous experience in learning an instrument.

Do apply early for the course as this year children can request what they would like to learn musically and we will try our best to meet their needs.  Look out for the application form from early 2008 on the website and around Lambeth schools.

MORE INFORMATION ON 2008 SUMMER COURSES WILL BE PLACED HERE A LITTLE CLOSER TO THE TIME

See you in the summer!
