• All children in year 9 take part
• The project is designed to accommodate the various skill levels pupils have, regardless of their musical experience.
• The first MX Britpop project was started in September 2006 at The Norwood School.
• MX Britpop provides pupils with a course of learning that covers a module of the Edexcel GCSE Music syllabus.
• Each class form several pop bands using electric guitar, electric bass, drums, vocals and keyboards.
• Students learn about the history and context of the genre, as well as receiving instrumental tuition in guitar, bass and drums.
• Performance is integral to the programme, with each band learning and performing material from the Britpop genre.
• From September 2006, over 120 year nine students in Lambeth will be engaging with instrumental music through MX Britpop projects at Lambeth secondary schools |
