Instrumental and Vocal Small Group Tuition

The Lambeth Music Service prides itself in the quality of its small group teaching provision, which takes place in over half the schools in Lambeth.

Small group tuition provides an ideal progression for those students who have shown particular interest and talent during their First Access to instrumental music, as outlined in the National Plan for Music Education. It is also suitable for beginners or whose who want move to a different instrument. Groups of up to 10 children per hour can receive music lessons from a specialist music teacher, at modest cost to the school.

Our team of skilled tutors (many of whom perform regularly professionally) offer a wide range of woodwind, brass, string, keyboard and percussion instruments, as well as a variety of vocal styles.  LMS is also able to provide a cost-effective way to hire instruments for the students learning with LMS teachers (provided that instrument stock is available).

Students taught in small group tuition may enter music exams including Music Medals, ABRSM and Trinity Guildhall. LMS teachers are trained in examining for Music Medals, and LMS hosts a week of public exams each year.  Students who receive small group tuition are encouraged to perform on stage as part of our prestigious annual Lambeth Schools Music Festival, and to join the many ensembles in schools or at Tippet Music Centre on Saturdays.

If your school could benefit from small group or individual tuition, please visit this page to submit your request.  If you would like to discuss our services before completing the form, please call Dan Clarke on 020 7091 1241 or email
