Lambeth Schools' Music Festival 2010 Introduction

We are now welcoming Lambeth Schools to take part in this year’s Lambeth Schools Music Festival, from the 15th - 18th March. The concerts will take place at Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall, Clore Ballroom and Queen Elizabeth Hall.

The partnership between ourselves and Southbank Centre has been developing over the last few years and the 2010 festival promises to be our best collaboration yet. This year, the Festival will be an integral part of its artistic programme, and the Learning and Participation team will be working with us to ensure the success of the Festival.  Siân Maclennan, Creative Director of Learning and Participation says she is looking forward to welcoming everyone in March and hearing the musical achievements of Lambeth children.

This year there will be a total of 7 concerts. The Infant and Junior singing concerts will take place in the Royal Festival Hall which is a world class 3000 seat auditorium, and the instrumental concerts in the Clore Ballroom, one of London’s favourite and most accessible performance spaces, or in the Queen Elizabeth Hall.

MONDAY 15th March - LAMBETH MUSIC FESTIVAL: JUNIOR INSTRUMENTAL CONCERT 1
AND OPENING SHOWCASE CONCERT
This opening day is a chance for Lambeth's young people to show off their musical talent and repertoire of ensemble music, culminating in the evening's showcase. Festival continues from 16th – 18th March.

TUESDAY 16th March - LAMBETH MUSIC FESTIVAL: SECONDARY INSTRUMENTAL AND SINGING CONCERTS

WEDNESDAY 17th March - LAMBETH MUSIC FESTIVAL: JUNIOR INSTRUMENTAL CONCERT 2
Performances by talented junior children in Lambeth schools. See Monday 15th March.

THURSDAY 18th March - LAMBETH MUSIC FESTIVAL: INFANT AND JUNIOR SINGING CONCERTS
The festival's final day is a celebration of singing with massed choirs drawn from Lambeth infant and junior schools singing a range of repertoire from Bernstein to The Beatles. See Monday 15th March.
