1. What other classes can my child join at the Centre?
To find out what classes your child can attend please select the application form in this folder. It will give you all the classes available for your child, prices and times.
2. Can I move the time of my child's current lesson?
You can request to change the time of your child's lesson for the following term through the 'existing student' tab. The ability to do so happens in the first half term, after which point your child is expected to continue with the existing time. We will not be able to change your child's lesson in the current term
3. Do I need to give notice before cancelling lessons?
Yes, we require half a terms notice through the application form in the 'existing student' tab. This application form is only open in the first half term. To the full terms and conditions please click on the 'general documents' tab and select terms and conditions
4. Can I speak to the centre manager?
The centre manager is available to meet parents on a Saturday morning and very happy to speak to parents on all matters
5. Do Lambeth Music Service offer these classes in my child's school?
The Lambeth Music Centre is a small part of the work of Lambeth Music Service. We teach over 6,000 children each week and have over 80 tutors. To find out more please telephone our general enquiries on 020 7091 1240
6. What can I do whilst my children are in lessons?
We have three parent music lessons the Beginner Parent Guitar (09.30-10.30), Advanced Parent Guitar (09.30-10.30) and Parent African Drumming (10.30-11.30)
7. How do I get involved with the Friends of the Centre?
To get involved in the Friends of the Centre please contact the Friends secretary Aline on [email protected]
8. When can my child progress to the next class?
We understand at the Lambeth Music Centre that not all children progress at the same level, whilst all our tutors are trained in teaching a range of standards in the same class we will progress children through our progression route faster where we feel necessary.
9. Are there classes for children with Special educational needs?
We have a number of tutors that are able to teach children with additional needs within the current classes and we also have Kim Perkins who you can contact directly at [email protected], she runs our inclusion work supporting children who would benefit from one to one support
10. Can I expect a sibling discount?
In order to keep our prices as low as possible for all children we do not allow a sibling discount however we do offer multiple lesson discount
11. How do I communicate with my child's tutor?
Where your child is receiving a small group lesson we have free practice journals that allow parents to ask specific questions of their children's tutor. For more information on classes please select our 'classes' tab
12. What can I do while I wait?
We have a number of parents who support the Centre by volunteering in the café or by baking or donating food to be sold at the Café. The café is designed to make waiting a little more enjoyable whilst raising money the Centre uses to buy instruments and bursaries.
13. Do you have Bursaries and support families eligible for Pupil Premium Funding(Previously free school meals)?
We do have both bursaries and support families eligible for Pupil Premium Funding (PPF). If you are eligible for PPF you will need to contact your child's school and ask for a letter, this will act as proof that you are eligible for PPF and the price is significantly less. If you are not eligible for PPF but receive £20,000 or less you can also receive a £50 bursary as long as your child is receiving lessons that amount to £80 or more.
