Lambeth Music Service is a non-profit making organisation that endeavours to provide a wide range of educational opportunities to schools and families at an affordable cost. We review fees and consider barriers to participation on a regular basis and use our grant from the Department for Education to subsidise a portion of all activity.
Despite this, we know that the cost of music making activities can soon add up, and are keen to play our part in offering and signposting additional support to families so that as many young people as possible can access and enjoy provision.
Brixton Hill Music Centre (bursary scheme)
We currently offer two kinds of bursaries at our Music Centre, designed to provide financial assistance to low-income families unable to meet the full cost of provision themselves. These are subject to eligibility and availability. Click here for further details.
Other funding opportunities for young musicians
We recognise that our ability to provide financial support to families and young people in Lambeth is quite limited, so have collated the details of a number of some other organisations (identified by Awards for Young Musicians) that may be able to support a greater number and wider range of needs.
‘Help Musicians UK’ have also created a ‘Funding Wizard search engine’ to help families and young people identify possible sources of funding.
The Wrightson Trust
Priority is given to those between 8 and 18 and support is not normally given to those over 25. Towards payment for instrumental lessons, assistance with choir/orchestra tour fees, music colleges etc. Grants range from £100-£800.
