EARLY YEARS (RECEPTION AGE TO YEAR 2)
Children looking to take their first steps in musical learning are encouraged to join our fun filled Musitrax classes. These year-long courses introduce learners to the building blocks of music that shape the world around them.
Musitrax Sing (Reception: 5 years old) Songs, games and teamwork encourage musical thinking and doing from the earliest stages. Musitrax Tune (Year 1: 6 years old) Explore song, rhythm and movement in a year of musical activity. Musitrax Play (Year 2: 7 years old) Experience drums, recorders and glockenspiels whilst playing as part of a band. When a student completes a year of Musitrax they automatically progress to the next group: MX Sing students move to MX Tune. MX Tune students move to MX Play. MX Play students will be asked to choose a pathway within Stage 2. |
LARGE GROUP SESSIONS FOR BEGINNERS (year 3 +)
Children are given the exciting opportunity to choose and explore a family of instruments for a year by joining one of our 'pathway’ groups.
These group courses for beginners explore different instruments belonging to their chosen pathway for a year before going on to secure key technical skills on a single instrument.

INSTRUMENTS AND VOCAL LESSONS (AGE 7+)
Our extensive, experienced team of tutors deliver a variety of instrument and vocal lessons covering different musical styles, traditions and approaches.
Many tutors maintain active links to the music industry and all are specialists on their chosen instruments. This enables us to offer lessons for most of the instruments found in folk, pop , world music and Jazz, and to cater for a full range of abilities, from beginners through to advanced players. |
ENSEMBLES & GROUPS (AGE 7+)
For the richest experience, we recommend young people continue their learning by combining Lessons with group music-making activities from the vast array of options available.
These group activities build friendship, community, creativity and confidence. The musical and social rewards that come from working as part of a team are most important to all at the centre. We offer a breadth of experiences ranging from String ensembles to African drumming, Steelpans to Wind bands and Symphony Orchestras to Rock bands. |
MUSIC THEORY (AGE 8+)
A good knowledge of music theory is vital for both composers and musicians when creating or playing music. It helps us to understand the structure and meaning behind a piece of music. Music theory also greatly enhances understanding of our instruments.
We provide 2 separate theory classes: 1. A foundation class for pupils new to the idea of music theory. This course covers the journey from beginner to grade 4 level. 2. A grade 5 class intended for students who are experienced on their instrument. This session will prepare students who wish to take Grade 5 Theory (ABRSM) |
ADDITIONAL NEEDS AND DISABILITIES
Music Making SENse in partnership with Lambeth Music Service provide personalised and inclusive music lessons for learners with additional needs.
We aim to be fully inclusive and are well placed to provide musical learning experiences for pupils with special needs and disabilities. If your child has additional needs a member of the experienced Music Making SENse staff will consult with you to discuss the best tuition option/learning experience available. This might be 'musicianship lessons' which embrace a variety of activities on range of instruments (e.g. drums, ukulele, singing, bells, keyboard, recorder), or lessons on a specific instrument that the learner has an interest in (e.g. drum kit, guitar, trombone, voice etc). |
